Admission is considered, not automatic.

SHARP seeks individuals who have accumulated something worth transferring — and who intend to transfer it.

What membership means

SHARP membership is a professional standing within an institution, not a subscription. Members are considered for engagements where their experience is genuinely relevant, and they work under defined standards of conduct, independence and confidentiality.

Because SHARP presents its members to serious organizations, admission carries obligation in both directions. Members represent the institution; the institution stands behind the members.

What membership is not based on

  • Age. SHARP does not use age as a qualification, in either direction.
  • Longevity. Time served is not, by itself, experience.
  • Title. Senior titles do not guarantee transferable capability.
  • Retirement status alone. Leaving a career is a circumstance, not a credential.
  • Payment of dues. No fee confers membership.

What SHARP considers

Demonstrated capability, and the potential to contribute it.

Demonstrated professional capacity

Evidence of substantive capability developed and exercised in real professional settings.

Tested judgment

Decisions carried under genuine consequence, including decisions that required correction.

Meaningful experience

Depth and variety of exposure sufficient to recognize patterns — and their exceptions.

Character

Integrity, discretion, and the willingness to state an inconvenient conclusion accurately.

Willingness to contribute

Genuine interest in applying capability to institutional problems, not simply in affiliation.

Institutional discipline

The ability to work within SHARP's standards of scope, conduct, confidentiality and independence.
